Additional earthquake resilience is a step closer for Christchurch's New Brighton

Additional earthquake resilience is a step closer for Christchurch's New Brighton

The Gateway to New Brighton Project has been approved, meaning a century old earthquake-damaged bridge will be replaced, and surrounding streets improved.

Intersection, pedestrian crossing and parking changes are also in the works.

Panel Chair and local Councillor Celeste Donovan says it will better prepare the area for earthquakes, climate change, and allow quicker evacuations.

She says it's a huge community concern, and should be delivered without delay.
