Police have missed out on six-million-dollars funding - for failing to reach all of their infringement targets

Police have missed out on six-million-dollars funding - for failing to reach all of their infringement targets

In August, the Government announced Police could receive an extra 72-million-dollars, if their road policing targets were met.

They succeeded for breath screening and speeding tickets, but not for open road speeding tickets.

AA road safety spokesperson Dylan Thomsen says they need to get the right mix between urban and rural roads.

He says part of the reason for the focus on open road speeding, is because those are the roads where we tend to have higher rates of fatal crashes.
