17-year-old Canadian swimmer sets fastest 400 metres freestyle time of the year

17-year-old Canadian swimmer Summer McIntosh has set the fastest 400 metres freestyle time of the year at Olympic trials in Toronto, eclipsing the effort of Erika Fairweather to win the world championships

    14 May 2024

Her three minutes 59.06 seconds beat Fairweather's best mark for the calendar year by 0.38 of a second.

The Titans seek to wave their abracadabra wand to conjure up a halves combination this week in league's NRL Magic Round.

Coach Des Hasler needs some sorcery against the Knights at Brisbane with five contenders - captain Kieran Foran, AJ Brimson, Tom Weaver, Tanah Boyd and Jayden Campbell - on the injured list.

Aston Villa have drawn 3-all with Liverpool in football's Premier League, keeping them in fourth and closer to cementing Champions League qualification.

They will be guaranteed a top-four spot if Tottenham fail to beat Manchester City tomorrow.

Liverpool stay third with a match to play - Arsenal and Manchester City remain the only contenders for the title.
