    The housing slump is continuing

    The housing slump is continuing

    15 July 2024
Latest figures from the Real Estate Institute show the total number of homes sold in the past year is down 25.6 percent the previous year.

The national median house price is down 1.3 percent.

Real Estate Institute chief executive Jen Baird says it's normal to see a slowdown over winter, but this slowdown is worse than in previous years.

She says this decline is deeper than in previous years, due to the wider economic conditions.
