    Food prices have continued to rise, led by a 51.2 percent surge for butter over the year

    Stats NZ says prices rose 4.4 percent in the year to May, and was up 1.3 percent from the month before.

    Cheese was up 30 percent, and milk 15.

    Beef steak and mince went up 18.6 and 13 percent respectively.
