Meridian and Nova Energy have finalised a joint venture for a solar farm near Taupo - set to be one of the largest in New Zealand

Meridian and Nova Energy have finalised a joint venture for a solar farm near Taupo - set to be one of the largest in New Zealand

    30 August 2025
The 50/50 entity will build and operate the Te Rahui solar project next to State Highway 5 in Rangitaiki.

First power is expected in mid-2026, with full power in mid-2027 and once completed it'll produce enough electricity to power around 100 thousand homes.

Meridian Chief Executive Mike Roan says it's a great example of how collaboration can move big projects forward for the benefit of electricity users.
