Choice and electricity could soon be a package deal for New Zealand consumers

Choice and electricity could soon be a package deal for New Zealand consumers

    25 May 2025
The independent organisation FlexForum's made 41 recommendations to the Electricity Authority, that would make electricity more flexible.

Actions include implementing real-time access to consumers' electricity information and allowing for more than one retailer for different services on a property.

    The Authority's welcoming the plan.

Chief Executive says more flexibility's a way to ensure we meet our changeable demand.

She says a good example is a large industrial choosing to be flexible and turn down its production, so that it uses power at times when it's not peak.
