    north island


    Partly cloudy with isolated showers.

    WINDS
    Southwesterly, gale in exposed places, easing this morning.

    FREEZING LEVEL
    2800 metres in the north, sloping to 1800 metres in the south, rising to 2300 metres in the south later today.


    south island



    Kahurangi National Park to Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park
    Partly cloudy with isolated showers. Clearing overnight.

    Mt Aspiring and Fiordland National Parks
    Mainly fine but areas of cloud about eastern slopes until afternoon.

    WINDS
    Gale southwesterlies, easing south and east of Nelson Lakes National Park.

    FREEZING LEVEL
    1500 metres, lifting to 2500 metres by midday, then to 3000 metres this evening.
