Scattered showers, with thunderstorms and possible downpours this afternoon and evening.
Auckland and Waikato
Fine spells. Scattered showers from afternoon, some heavy with possible thunderstorms north of Hamilton.
Coromandel, Bay of Plenty, Waitomo and the central high country, also Gisborne and Hawke's Bay
Generally fine. Areas of cloud morning and night, and isolated afternoon and evening showers, especially about the ranges where some may be heavy.
Taranaki to Wellington, and Wairarapa
Fine apart from areas of morning cloud.
Nelson, Buller, Marlborough and Canterbury
Morning low cloud for Christchurch and the Kaikoura Coast, otherwise fine.
Grey and Westland
Cloudy periods. A few showers possible in southern Westland.
Otago, Southland and Fiordland
Cloudy. Rain about Fiordland and Stewart Island this morning, extending to Southland and Clutha this afternoon.
Chatham Islands
Mostly cloudy. Drizzle possible from evening.
