Fine spells and a few showers, turning to rain for a time south of Waikato in the evening with possible thunderstorms.

Wellington and Wairarapa, also Marlborough and Nelson
Cloudy periods with isolated showers, turning to rain in the afternoon or evening. Northwest gales.
Periods of rain and thunderstorms about the high country, with northwest gales. Mainly fine elsewhere.
Buller, Westland and Fiordland
Periods of rain, heavy at times with squally thunderstorms and hail.
Otago and Southland
A period of morning rain, then a few showers, some heavy in the afternoon with possible thunderstorms and hail.
A few showers developing in the morning, then clearing in the evening.

North Island: Early showers in the east, remaining dry in Wellington. Elsewhere, rain or showers, easing and retreating to the west. Gale northwest in Wellington and Wairarapa. South Island: Rain in the south and west, sometimes heavy. Mainly fine elsewhere. Scattered rain for Nelson and Canterbury. Gale or severe gale west to northwesterlies.
North Island: A few showers in the west and northeast. Dry about Wellington, Wairarapa and Hawke's Bay. South Island: Showers in the west and south easing. Fine elsewhere, but isolated afternoon showers possible inland. Gale southwesterlies in the far south easing.
North Island: Isolated showers in the west from Northland to Manawatu, fine elsewhere. South Island: Scattered showers in the west and far south. Fine elsewhere, but isolated afternoon showers inland.
A period of rain on Wednesday, then a few showers. Northerlies changing westerly early Friday.
