A significant low pressure system crosses Aotearoa/New Zealand today. Watches and warnings are in effect for many places, including a heavy snow warning for Canterbury High Country.
Gisborne and Hawke's Bay
Rain about Wairarapa, spreading elsewhere tomorrow morning with thunderstorms possible through afternoon then clearing.
Remainder of the North Island
Rain with heavy falls and possible thunderstorms, especially over Northland. Easing to showers tomorrow, but thunderstorms remain possible through afternoon.
Marlborough, Nelson and Buller to Westland
Rain with heavy falls and possible thunderstorms inland, easing to showers this evening.
Canterbury and Otago
Rain with some heavy falls, and snow to low levels this evening. Easing to isolated showers tomorrow.
Fiordland and Southland
Showers, with snow to 400 metres, possibly 200 metres for a time this afternoon.
