    Marine Weather Situation and Forecast issued at 1702hrs Sunday 26-Oct-2025 by MetService
    Situation: Disturbed westerlies affect the country today. A complex trough of low pressure from the Tasman Sea moves onto New Zealand tomorrow morning, then across the South Island later. Its associated fronts move northeast over central and northern New Zealand late tomorrow, followed by cold southwesterlies over the South Island. A showery southwest flow prevails across Aotearoa/New Zealand as the front moves away to the east on Tuesday. On Wednesday, a ridge of high pressure extends over the far north, while westerlies continue over central and southern New Zealand. Westerly winds maintains across the South Island on Thursday while a low approaches the far north of the North Island, generating a disturbed easterly flow Far North by late Thursday.

    Sunday: Westerly 20 knots, easing to northwest 15 knots this evening. Moderate sea easing this evening but choppy when wind opposes tide. Cloudy periods. For the west coast: Southwest swell 3 metres.
    Monday: Northwest 15 knots, rising to 20 knots gusting 30 knots in the morning. Sea becoming moderate in the morning. Poor visibility in rain developing afternoon. For the west coast: Westerly swell 3 metres easing to 2 metres.
    Tuesday: Northwest 30 knots, easing to 15 knots early morning, then changing southwest 20 knots late morning. Showers, clearing. For the west coast: Southwest swell 1 metre dying out.
    Wednesday: Southwest 15 knots. Partly cloudy. For the west coast: Southwest swell 4 metres developing.
    Thursday: Westerly 10 knots, easing to variable 5 knots early. Cloud clearing and becoming fine. For the west coast: Southwest swell 3 metres easing.
