    Marine Weather Situation and Forecast issued at 1124hrs Thursday 18-Sep-2025 by MetService
    Situation: A weakening cold front moves north over the North Island today, while a disturbed south to southwest flow lies over the South Island. The southerly flow is expected to ease tomorrow as a ridge builds over the country. Northwesterlies strengthen over the far south of the South Island tomorrow night. A northwest flow strengthens over the South Island on Saturday, ahead of a front approaching from the Tasman Sea. The front makes its way northwards over the South Island during Sunday, stalling in central New Zealand by the end of the day. On Monday, the front lies slow moving over central parts of the country while a northwest flow develops over the South Island.

    Thursday: Northwest 20 knots. Changing to southwest 15 knots early evening, then rising to 20 knots late evening. Moderate sea easing for a time early evening. Poor visibility in rain, possibly heavy, then easing late evening. For the west coast: Westerly swell rising to 3 metres.
    Friday: Southwest 20 knots, easing to 15 knots in the afternoon, and then to variable 5 knots in the evening. Moderate sea easing. Fair visibility in a few showers, clearing in the evening. For the west coast: Southwest swell rising to 4 metres.
    Saturday: Variable 5 knots, becoming northeast 15 knots in the morning. Fine. For the west coast: Southwest swell 2 metres easing.
