Recreational Marine: Hawke Bay Marine Weather Situation and Forecast issued at 1631hrs Thursday 05-Feb-2026 by MetService Situation: The ridge remains slow moving and dominates the country most of today, however a front pushes onto the lower South Island by the end of the day. The front then weakens as it moves northwards over the South Island tomorrow, while the ridge persists across the North Island. Over the weekend, the ridge dominates central and northern New Zealand, while a front moves onto the South Island during Sunday and weakens. On Monday, a trough moves onto central New Zealand from the Tasman Sea, while the ridge extends over southern and northern parts of the country. Forecast for Inshore waters between Cape Kidnappers and Portland Island Nil warnings Thursday: Easterly 10 knots, turning northeast 10 knots in the evening. Sea slight. Fine. Southeast swell 2.5 metres easing to 1.5 metres. Friday: Northeast 10 knots, becoming variable 5 knots in the morning.
