A ridge of high pressure covers most of New Zealand from Friday through to Sunday. However, weak troughs are expected to bring showers to northern and eastern parts of the North Island as well as the west of the South Island. Forecast for Inshore waters between Cape Kidnappers and Portland Island * Strong wind advisory in force * Wednesday: Southwest 25 knots gusting 35 knots. Sea rough. Mostly cloudy, with fair visibility in showers. Southerly swell 3 metres, easing to 2.5 metres. Thursday: Southerly 25 knots gusting 35 knots, easing to 20 knots gusting 30 knots in the morning, then easing to 15 knots in the evening. Rough sea easing in the morning.
