Recreational Marine: Kapiti Marine Weather Situation and Forecast issued at 1132hrs Friday 19-Dec-2025 by MetService Situation: A series of fronts move northeast over the country today, followed by a cold and showery southwesterly flow tomorrow. A weak ridge of high pressure covers most of New Zealand on Sunday, but a front moves onto Northland during the second part of the day. On Monday, another front approaches New Zealand from Tasman Sea. This front moves east over the South Island on Tuesday, and becomes slow-moving over the North Island. Forecast for Inshore waters from Waitarere to Pukerua Bay and out to Kapiti Island * Strong wind advisory in force * Friday: Northwest 20 knots gusting 30 knots, rising to 25 knots gusting 35 knots for a time in the afternoon and early evening. Turning westerly 20 knots gusting 30 knots late evening. Sea becoming rough for a time in the afternoon and early evening. Cloudy. Poor visibility in evening rain. Possible evening thunderstorms.
