    Marine Weather Situation and Forecast issued at 1330hrs Friday 20-Jun-2025 by MetService

    Situation:
    A rain band moves off the upper North Island this morning, followed by a showery west to southwest flow. On Saturday, a narrow ridge of high pressure moves onto New Zealand from the Tasman Sea, but another front approaches the far south late in the day. The ridge remains over northern and central New Zealand on Sunday, while a fast moving front moves over southern New Zealand, followed by a period of strong west to southwest winds. The front moves over the remainder of the country on Monday, with southwest winds easing later in the day as a new ridge of high pressure moves onto the country from the Tasman Sea. On Tuesday, the ridge of high pressure moves to the east of New Zealand, allowing a northerly flow to develop over the country, strong in the south.

    Forecast issued at 1058hrs Friday 20-Jun-2025
    Valid to 1 pm Friday for The Bay of Islands and inshore waters from Cape Brett to the Poor Knights Islands to Bream Head.
    Friday: Westerly 10 knots, turning southwest 15 knots everywhere early afternoon, then easing to 10 knots late afternoon. Turning southerly 10 knots early evening. Sea slight. Fair visibility a in a few showers before evening, then partly cloudy. Easterly swell 1 metre.
    Saturday: Southerly 10 knots, rising to 15 knots in the morning. Sea slight. Partly cloudy with the chance of showers. Easterly swell 1 metre.

    Outlook until midnight Tuesday:
    Sunday: Southerly 15 knots. Fine. Northeast swell 1 metre.
    Monday: Westerly 15 knots. Fine. Northeast swell 1 metre dying out.
    Tuesday: Westerly 10 knots, easing to variable 5 knots early. A few showers
    developing.
