    Southeast 35 knots easing to 25 knots from late this morning, and to 15 knots late this afternoon.
    Becoming variable 10 knots but southwest 15 knots west of Farewell Spit to Hawera this evening.
    Very rough sea easing.
    West of Cape Farewell to Hawera, southwest swell 4 metres, easing.
    Northwest swell 2 metres, easing.
    Southeast swell 2 metres developing.
    Poor visibility in morning showers.

    Outlook following 3 days:
    Changing Saturday morning westerly 25 knots and late Saturday in the east southeast 20 knots, becoming Sunday everywhere westerly 20 knots.
    Sea becoming rough for a time.
    Moderate southwest swell in the west.
    Moderate southeast swell easing Saturday.
