    Marine Weather Situation and Forecast issued at 2030hrs Saturday 20-Apr-2024 by MetService

    Strong wind advisory for Hauraki Gulf, Waitemata Harbour and Bream Head to Cape Colville

    Situation:
    A low pressure system slowly moves eastwards over the North Island on Saturday, then farther away to the east on Sunday. Meanwhile, a series of weak cold fronts move north over the South Island and dissipate Saturday through Monday. A ridge of high pressure otherwise builds over Aotearoa/New Zealand on Monday. A front reaches the far south late Tuesday, then weakens on Wednesday, followed by a couple of weak troughs over the South Island.

    Forecast issued at 1635hrs Saturday 20-Apr-2024
    Valid to 8 pm Saturday for Manukau and Waitemata Harbours, Hauraki Gulf and Bream Head to Cape Colville.

    For Manukau Harbour:
    Saturday: Northeast 20 knots, changing southwest 10 knots this evening. Moderate sea easing this evening. Cloudy. Poor visibility in periods of rain with possible thunderstorms, easing this evening. Southwest swell 2 metres.
    Sunday: Southwest 10 knots, rising to 20 knots in the morning. Sea becoming moderate in the morning. Poor visibility in a few showers, becoming mainly fine in the afternoon. Southwest swell 2 metres, easing to 1.5 metres for a time.
    Monday: Southwest 20 knots, easing to southerly 10 knots in the afternoon. Mainly fine. A shower or two in the morning. Southwest swell 2 metres.
    Tuesday: Southerly 10 knots, easing to variable 5 knots early. Partly cloudy. Southwest swell 2 metres.
    Wednesday: Westerly 10 knots, easing to variable 5 knots later. Fine, becoming cloudy later. Southwest swell 2 metres, easing to 1.5 metres.

    For Waitemata Harbour:
    Saturday: Northeast 20 knots, changing southwest 10 knots this evening. Moderate sea easing this evening. Cloudy. Poor visibility in periods of rain with possible thunderstorms, clearing this evening.
    Sunday: Southwest 10 knots, rising to 25 knots gusting 35 knots in the morning, easing to 15 knots in the evening. Sea becoming rough in the morning, easing in the evening. Poor visibility in a few showers, becoming mainly fine in the afternoon.
    Monday: Southwest 15 knots, easing to southerly 10 knots in the afternoon. Mainly fine. Chance of a shower.
    Tuesday: Southeast 10 knots, easing to variable 5 knots early. Fine, but becoming cloudy.
    Wednesday: Southwest 10 knots, easing to variable 5 knots later. Cloudy periods.

    For Hauraki Gulf:
    Saturday: Northeast 25 knots gusting 35 knots, changing southwest 15 knots this evening. Rough sea easing this evening. Cloudy. Poor visibility in periods of rain with possible thunderstorms, clearing this evening. Northerly swell rising to 1 metre.
    Sunday: Southwest 15 knots, rising to 25 knots gusting 35 knots in the morning, easing to 20 knots in the evening. Sea becoming rough in the morning, easing in the evening. Poor visibility in a few showers, becoming mainly fine in the afternoon. Northerly swell 1 metre, easing to half a metre.
    Monday: Southwest 20 knots, easing to southerly 10 knots in the evening. Mainly fine. Chance of a shower. Northeast swell half a metre or less.
    Tuesday: Southeast 10 knots, easing to variable 5 knots early. Fine.
    Wednesday: Southwest 10 knots, easing to variable 5 knots late. Partly cloudy.

    For Bream Head to Cape Colville:
    Saturday: Northerly 25 knots gusting 35 knots, changing southwest 15 knots this evening. Rough sea easing this evening. Cloudy. Poor visibility in periods of rain with possible thunderstorms, clearing this evening. Northeast swell rising to 1 metre.
    Sunday: Southwest 15 knots, rising to 25 knots gusting 35 knots in the morning. Sea becoming rough in the morning. Poor visibility in a few showers, becoming mainly fine in the afternoon. Northeast swell 1 metre, easing to half a metre.
    Monday: Southwest 25 knots gusting 35 knots, easing to 20 knots in the morning. Mainly fine. Chance of a shower. Easterly swell half a metre.
    Tuesday: Southerly 15 knots, turning easterly 10 knots early. Becoming northwest 10 knots later. Fine. Easterly swell half a metre.
    Wednesday: Southwest 10 knots, easing to variable 5 knots early. Fine, but becoming cloudy. Easterly swell half a metre.
