    Recreational Marine: Bay of Islands
    Marine Weather Situation and Forecast issued at 0130hrs Tuesday 03-Jun-2025 by MetService

    Situation:
    Today a ridge of high pressure over northern and central New Zealand moves away to the east as a low deepens in the Tasman Sea, and a front moves onto Fiordland. Tomorrow, the front pushes north reaching central New Zealand. Meanwhile, the low ends the day over the Cook Straight On Thursday, the deep low pulls away to the east followed by a west to southwest flow. On Friday, a very cold southerly flow is expected to affect southern and central New Zealand, while showery westerlies affect northern New Zealand. This flow persists through Saturday with the cooler temperatures spreading northward.

    Valid to 1 am Tuesday for Bay of Islands Recreational Marine Area.
    Tuesday: Variable 5 knots. Northerly 10 knots developing late afternoon, rising to 20 knots in the evening. Sea becoming moderate in the evening. Partly cloudy, chance of an early morning shower.

    Outlook until midnight Friday:
    Wednesday: Northerly 20 knots, rising to 30 knots in the morning. Occasional
    rain. Northerly swell 3 metres developing.
    Thursday: Northwest 20 knots, easing to variable 5 knots early. Becoming
    southerly 10 knots later. Rain developing. Northerly swell 3 metres
    easing.
    Friday: Southerly 15 knots, turning westerly 20 knots later. Rain, clearing.
    Northeast swell 1 metre.
